Steel sheets: hot rolled, cold rolled and galvanized

Sheets cut from coil are used across fabrication, HVAC ducting, electrical enclosures, appliances, automotive parts and building envelopes. The main decision is between hot-rolled (HR) for strength and economy, cold-rolled (CR) for surface finish and tight tolerance, and galvanized (GI) or pre-painted (PPGI) for corrosion protection.

Overview

Sheets can be supplied in standard sizes such as 1250 × 2500 mm or cut to length from coil. Share the thickness, coating mass and quantity you need and we will confirm options.

Available forms

  • Hot rolled (HR) and hot rolled pickled & oiled (HRPO) sheets
  • Cold rolled (CR) sheets
  • Hot-dip galvanized (GI) sheets
  • Galvalume (aluminium-zinc) sheets
  • Pre-painted (PPGI / PPGL) sheets

Selection guidance

How to specify steel sheets (hr, cr, gi)

01

Choose the coating for the environment

Coastal and industrial sites in Jeddah, Jubail or Dammam are more corrosive. Specify a heavier zinc coating (e.g., Z275) or pre-painted sheet where exposed.

02

CR for appearance, HR for structure

Cold-rolled sheet gives a smooth, uniform surface for painting and forming. Hot-rolled is more economical where appearance is not critical.

03

State the forming operation

Deep drawing and tight bending need forming grades (e.g., DC04 or DX53D). Tell us how the sheet will be processed.

Steel Sheets (HR, CR, GI): FAQs

What is the difference between GI and GL sheet?
GI (galvanized iron) sheet is coated with zinc. GL (Galvalume) is coated with an aluminium-zinc alloy that generally performs better in heat and many atmospheric conditions, making it common for roofing.
What does Z275 mean?
Z275 indicates a total zinc coating mass of 275 g/m² across both sides, measured by the triple-spot test. Higher numbers mean more zinc and longer corrosion protection.
Can you supply sheets cut to my size?
Yes. Sheets can be cut to length from coil. Provide width, length, thickness and quantity in your request.
