Steel silos and bulk storage systems

Silos protect bulk solids from weather and contamination while enabling controlled filling and discharge. Grain, animal feed, flour, cement, fly ash, plastic pellets and minerals each behave differently in storage.

Scope of work

We take enquiries for flat-bottom and hopper-bottom silos, day bins and associated support structures, access platforms and conveyor supports.

  • Hopper-bottom silos for feed and powders
  • Flat-bottom grain silos
  • Welded silos for cement and fly ash
  • Support structures, platforms and stairs
  • Aeration, level and discharge interfaces

Deliverables

  • Design and GA drawings
  • Silo structure and supports
  • Access platforms and ladders
  • Erection records

What we need from you

  • Stored material and volume
  • Filling and discharge rates
  • Site location and layout
  • Equipment interfaces

Process

How the work is delivered

  1. STEP 01

    Material data

Bulk density, flowability, moisture and temperature are defined — they drive silo geometry and wall loads.

  2. STEP 02

    Design

Silo walls, hopper angle and supports are designed for filling and discharge pressures (e.g., EN 1991-4).

  3. STEP 03

    Fabrication & supply

Galvanized bolted panels or welded shells are produced with structural supports.

  4. STEP 04

    Erection

Silos are erected and interfaces with conveying equipment completed.

Quality control

  • Design for asymmetric discharge loads
  • Galvanizing thickness checks
  • Bolt torque verification
  • Weld inspection for welded silos

Steel Silos & Bulk Storage: FAQs

Why does material flow matter in silo design?
Cohesive powders can bridge or rat-hole. Hopper angle, outlet size and wall finish are designed to achieve reliable mass or funnel flow.
What is the difference between flat and hopper bottom silos?
Flat-bottom silos store large grain volumes and use sweep augers for discharge. Hopper-bottom silos discharge by gravity and suit feed and powders.
Are steel silos suitable for hot climates?
Yes, with ventilation or aeration to manage condensation and temperature in stored grain.
