Structural steel fabrication for buildings and industrial plants

Structural fabrication turns design drawings into numbered, ready-to-erect steel members. Accuracy in the shop determines how fast and safely the structure goes up on site.

Scope of work

We take enquiries for steel frames, trusses, portal frames, pipe racks, equipment supports and connections, fabricated to approved shop drawings with traceable materials, qualified welding and documented inspection.

  • Shop drawing preparation and connection detailing (e.g., Tekla Structures models)
  • Material take-off and procurement of sections, plates and bolts
  • CNC cutting, drilling, sawing and coping
  • Assembly and welding to approved WPS/PQR
  • Shot blasting, priming, painting or hot-dip galvanizing
  • Piece marking, packing lists and delivery sequencing

Deliverables

  • Approved shop drawings and erection drawings
  • Fabricated, marked members
  • Bolt lists and packing lists
  • Quality dossier: MTCs, weld records, NDT, coating reports

What we need from you

  • IFC drawings and specification
  • Required steel grades and coating system
  • Project location and delivery schedule
  • Third-party inspection requirements, if any

Process

How the work is delivered

  1. STEP 01

    Drawing review

Design drawings and specifications are reviewed for grades, connection types, coating and tolerances. Queries are raised as RFIs before detailing starts.

  2. STEP 02

    Shop drawings & approval

Members and connections are detailed and issued for consultant approval. Fabrication begins only on approved revisions.

  3. STEP 03

    Fabrication & welding

Material is cut, drilled and assembled. Welding follows qualified procedures by qualified welders with visual and NDT inspection as specified.

  4. STEP 04

    Surface treatment

Members are blasted to the specified cleanliness (e.g., Sa 2½) and coated to the approved system and dry film thickness.

  5. STEP 05

    Dispatch

Members are marked, bundled and dispatched in the erection sequence agreed with the site team.

Quality control

  • Material traceability by heat number
  • Welding to AWS D1.1 or EN 1090-2 as specified
  • Visual, MPI/UT inspection per ITP
  • Dimensional checks before dispatch
  • DFT readings for coatings

Structural Steel Fabrication: FAQs

What do I need to get a fabrication quote?
IFC structural drawings, the specification (grades, coating, welding standard), approximate tonnage if known, project location and target dates. Tekla or IFC models speed up take-off.
What is an ITP?
An Inspection and Test Plan lists every inspection step, the acceptance criteria and who witnesses it. It is agreed before fabrication starts.
Can fabricated steel be galvanized?
Yes. Members are detailed with vent and drain holes and sent for hot-dip galvanizing to ISO 1461 or ASTM A123 after fabrication.
