Rebar weight formula
Rebar weight per metre (kg/m) = d² ÷ 162.2, where d is the diameter in millimetres.
The constant comes from the bar's cross-sectional area (π/4 × d²) multiplied by steel density (7,850 kg/m³). For example, a 16 mm bar: 16² ÷ 162.2 = 1.578 kg/m; a 12 m bar weighs about 18.9 kg.
Results are nominal weights. Actual bar weights may vary within the mass tolerance permitted by the product standard.
