Steel warehouses and pre-engineered buildings

Steel buildings are the fastest route to large, column-free industrial space. Pre-engineered buildings (PEB) use tapered built-up frames optimised for each span, while conventional steel buildings use hot-rolled sections and suit heavy cranes and complex layouts.

Scope of work

We take enquiries for warehouses, logistics centres, factories, workshops, cold stores and agricultural buildings, covering the steel frame, roofing, cladding and accessories.

  • Concept sizing: spans, eave height, bay spacing and crane loads
  • Structural design to SBC loads (wind, seismic, dust, crane)
  • Primary frames, secondary purlins and girts
  • Roof and wall cladding, insulation and skylights
  • Mezzanines, crane beams, canopies and doors interface
  • Anchor bolt plans for foundation contractors

Deliverables

  • Design calculations and drawings
  • Anchor bolt layout
  • Steel frame, purlins, cladding and accessories
  • Erection drawings and manuals

What we need from you

  • Site location and plot plan
  • Building dimensions and clear height
  • Usage, crane and mezzanine needs
  • Insulation and fire requirements

Process

How the work is delivered

  1. STEP 01

    Requirements

Footprint, clear height, usage, crane needs, insulation and expansion plans are defined.

  2. STEP 02

    Design & approvals

Frames are designed and drawings issued for client, consultant and municipality approval.

  3. STEP 03

    Anchor bolts first

Anchor bolt plans are released early so foundations can proceed while steel is fabricated.

  4. STEP 04

    Fabrication & supply

Frames, secondary steel and cladding are produced and delivered in erection sequence.

  5. STEP 05

    Erection & handover

Steel is erected, sheeted and inspected before handover.

Quality control

  • Design per SBC 301 loads and SBC 306 steel design
  • Weld and dimensional inspection
  • Coating inspection
  • Bolt tightening checks on site

Steel Buildings & Warehouses: FAQs

What is a pre-engineered building?
A steel building whose frames are made from welded, tapered plate sections optimised for the actual loads, combined with cold-formed purlins and profiled cladding. It typically uses less steel than a conventional frame for single-storey large spans.
How long does a steel warehouse take?
It depends on size, approvals and supply. Design and fabrication can run in parallel with foundations, which is why steel buildings are typically faster than concrete equivalents.
Do I need municipality approval for a steel warehouse?
Yes. Building permits are generally required through the relevant municipality and platforms such as Balady. Your design consultant normally manages submissions.
