Structural steel and pipe inspection support

Incoming material that does not match the specification causes the most expensive kind of delay: rejected deliveries discovered after fabrication starts.

Scope of work

We support buyers with receipt inspection, certificate review and coordination of independent third-party inspection, so non-conforming material is caught before it reaches the shop floor.

  • Mill test certificate review against specification
  • Heat number traceability checks
  • Dimensional and visual inspection
  • Coordination of PMI, hardness and UT testing
  • Coating thickness checks
  • Inspection reports with photos

Deliverables

  • Inspection report
  • Certificate review log
  • Non-conformance notes

What we need from you

  • Purchase order and specification
  • Certificates
  • Material location and access

  1. STEP 01

    Spec review

Purchase order and project specification requirements are listed as acceptance criteria.

  2. STEP 02

    Document check

Certificates are reviewed for grade, chemistry, mechanical properties and standards.

  3. STEP 03

    Physical inspection

Material markings, dimensions and condition are checked against documents.

  4. STEP 04

    Report

A report records conformity, deviations and recommended actions.

Steel & Pipe Inspection Support: FAQs

What should a mill test certificate show?
Product, grade, standard, heat number, dimensions, chemical composition, mechanical test results, certificate type (e.g., EN 10204 3.1) and the issuing mill's validation.
What is PMI?
Positive Material Identification uses portable XRF or OES analysers to verify alloy composition — common for stainless and alloy steels.
When is third-party inspection needed?
When the project specification or client requires independent verification, often on oil and gas, utilities and government projects.
